Kids Classes Summer 2012
At The Quilter’s Market, we’re committed to teaching kids how to sew! Besides being a basic life skill,
sewing something tangible and beautiful with one’s own hands is a
satisfying and rewarding experience that can be enjoyed your whole life. Come join Kitty and Susan this
winter for lots of fun, some learning and have a beautiful quilt or other
project to show for it!
Our classes are designed for children age 7 and older. |
Skill Levels:
Beginner: Little or no sewing experience.
Intermediate: Has taken both Basic Sewing and Basic Quilting classes. Needs help but knows the basics. Fun for experienced students.
Advanced: Student is able to pin fabric by themselves, sew accurate ¼” seams, and be able to focus on a task through completion.
 Kids’ Basic Sew
Want to learn how to use a sewing machine? This is the class for you. You will learn the parts of a sewing machine, proper pinning, straight stitching and much more. Using these new skills you will create a few small projects including a pin cushion to be used in other classes or at home.

 Kids’ Basic Quilting
To move on to this class you must have completed Basic Sewing at The Quilter’s Market. Come to this class to learn basic piecing using a ¼ inch seam, layering and basting the three layers that make up a quilt, basic machine quilting, and fused binding. You will create a fun 4 block table topper/wall hanging.

 Kids Sew or No Sew Applique Wall Hanging
Let's create an exciting, fun wall hanging! Miss Kitty and Miss Susan will supply you with the necessary backgrounds and fusible shapes used to create your very own design! You will have the option to simply fuse your design, or sew it down, your decision!

Wednesday & Friday June 13 & 15 — 1 pm – 4 pm
$44 plus $10 supply fee payable to instructors at class.
Our Kids Camps are a fun way to spend a week creating a beautiful quilt of your very own! You’ll go home with a completed top ready for quilting or a completely finished
quilt, depending on the project. Note: Our Camps fill up fast, so be sure to sign up early!
Kids’ Strips & Ladders Quilt Camp
Want to try out your new found sewing skills? Have a set of 2 1/2 inch strips you can't wait to sew into something fabulous? We will use the Strips and Ladders Pattern from Four Paws Quilting to create this fun quilt top from those fabulous strips! Join Miss Susan and Miss Kitty for an exciting experience in using your sewing skills to create something beautiful, and useful!

Kids’ Judy Niemeyer Indian Summer Quilt Camp
Ready to learn a new quilting skill! Miss Kitty and Miss Susan have decided to offer this camp in paper piecing! We will use Judy Niemeyer's Indian Summer pattern to teach her tried and true paper piecing method! You will have the option of creating a small table topper or quilt top!
